MOARRRR

Just finished a pretty tasty session, the first proper grind in a while. Really really enjoyed that, not played that intensely in a while. Shut the world out, had some music on and really got stuck into my game.

I more or less stuck to my schedule, just scrapped the tournaments after 9pm (the $5 on OnGame was the last tournament I registered for). This was basically because at that point I had 8 tables open and was getting deeper in more than I anticipated (good I know lol).

I got a little $12 cash in the $5.50 turbo, a $40 cash after a deep run in the Sunday $250k, a $40 cash in the $3r, a $105 cash in the Daily $30k and final tabled the $5.50 on Ipoker...coming in 7th for $250.

So, total cashes of $450 and a great pat on the back + roll boost! I am over the moon I guess, takes me beyond the $2500 mark and its nice to get the scores in as well as really enjoying playing.

I still feel slightly downbeat, as we all do. I can't help but feel "how many times will I final table...need to make the most of it". As before...
I know this is a bit ridiculous but my back is against the wall in terms of my ability to put in volume - I won't be able to play again until next week sometime and unfortunately that's likely to be the trend over the next few weeks, it sucks. So, a big score in there somewhere would have done nicely!

Still, its a long process and at least the roll is heading in the right direction. Next time the final table will be kinder to me!

Game On!

Managed to get a lot of work done this weekend so fortunately I have the time to participate in super Sunday! Pretty sick day all round really.. Super Sunday football, albeit an awful game over at Villa Park, then a night full of shipping tournaments (hopefully :P).

Once this week is out the way I'm going to have to attempt to get into some sort of routine and devise a schedule allowing for consistent volume. However, at the moment its just going to have be taking the opportunity to play where possible, which this week, is tonight and tonight only :(

So, based on that, here is my schedule:

Ipoker -

6.20 : $5.50
8.10 : $5.50
9.40 : $5.50
10.35 : $5.50

Boss -

6.30 : €6.60
7.35 : €3.30
9.45 : €5.50

OnGame -

6.20 : $11
9pm : $5.50
10.30 : $5.50

Stars -

6pm : $5.50
7pm : $11 (Daily $30k)
7.15 : $3r
7.20 : $4.40 turbo
8pm : $5.50 turbo
8.30 : $11 $250k GTD

All the respective tournaments are GTD's and full-on MTTs (no 180s etc) but I can't be arsed to write them all out in detail! I may alter it slightly depending on how it goes but hopefully I'll be able to stick to it!

GL all.

Progress

Well its been a while since my last post so I thought I'd at least update in an effort to explain the fact that I am putting in zero volume.

Its really frustrating to be honest, I feel the entire purpose of my life is to attend lectures and then spend all my private time working. It sucks! However, it does have its positives. Referring back to my 2010 goals and I can see that the majority have been maintained. I have not been out other than to play 5-a-side football, I have not drank, I have attended lectures and classes (although won't this morning but am going to see my tutor later this afternoon so it counts imo!). I am feeling a lot more positive about my degree as every single night I have been working on an aspect of it. In relation to my personal health, the lack of alcohol makes one feel better and I have also managed to get out on a run once, as well as the 5-a-side run-out, which is always a testing experience, more so last night however as we had a 2nd vs 3rd in the league game, respectively. Unfortunately we lost 6-5 but it makes it more interesting and competitive for the remaining 8 weeks.

Anyway, poker. As I say, its incredibly frustrating having $2000+ just sitting there unable to work for me. In some respects the fact I am unable to do anything is only a positive thing - my only outgoing has been on a new textbook. Lol, so odd - thats not me! I am hoping to be able to put in a session this weekend at some point - either tonight or Sunday. Its been too long and the next two weeks will be much the same unfortunately so I think its a case of just grabbing the opportunity while you can.
That said, I haven't had a great desire to play otherwise one would find the time, I'm sure. Still, if I am not going to play I may as well withdraw the roll until the summer when I can. That's not an option though, I want the roll to grow and be at a sufficient level come the summer to allow me earn some decent money. Although, I am going to do away with the profit targets, instead setting volume targets but I'll work on that when I get the chance.

Hopefully be able to update on a session later/Sunday. GL.

Ship It!

Well due to my nocturnal habits I ended up having a massive session in the 180s. To be honest its so annoying that I can't sleep at a reasonable hour but what better to do at this ungodly hour then play a few... Initially I wanted to mix it up with the other degens on the EU sites but alas, there was nothing on offer.

So, I took to the $2 180s. I reg'd to all between 3am and 4am, playing, I think, about 18 of them. I min-cashed in one, came 2nd in one and shipped another!! WOO!
Total cashes of about $190 but the roll jumped $160 I believe, so approaching the $2500 mark....

It was also pleasing to see that I could multi-table them to that extent. I was probably playing about 14 at its peak and I still felt I brought my A game to them all and didn't time out at all - and that's on a standard laptop screen!

Some may also consider me a tad nitty lol - playing $2s with a $2k roll. I understand the logic entirely and the fact that I am effectively losing money by doing that. However, the variance in them is sickening and I would sooner not put 200 buy-ins aside to grind 180 turbo's. The purpose, for me, is to maintain high volume and be a time-filler etc given the flexibility they offer, not a main source of grinding. Thus, the next jump up is the $7.70s, as the $4.40s don't apply. No way am I putting $1500 on Stars to grind those, I'd sooner spread the money around to take advantage of EU sites and grind my way up on Stars. With the money Dan has for the staking deal (out of Stars roll due to ease of transfer) there is about $600 on Stars so its not exactly loose change anyway. Hopefully manage to put in insane volume in them before March when it will have to die down.

Anyway, onwards and upwards. No idea what the fuck I'm going to do now, probably play a bit of Fifa or something!

Happy New Year

Firstly, Happy New Year... Hope 2010 is a good one!

On that note, had a pretty decent entry into the new decade after a good night out with the boys. Was really good getting everyone together and once out in town the banter was flowing at a rate of knots - just like the booze! Only downsides were paying £10 to get into Mainerz and the fact it was probably the last night out we'll have!

Tonight also saw my first session of the decade! Although, it was nothing to write home about! I played 5 tournaments across Bwin and VC, bubbling them all - pretty annoying! Just wasn't my night really, got trapped by a guy who flatted AQ in LP with 40bbs, against my 20 and called me down on an A 2 3 rainbow board, with me holding AJ. Fortunately he didn't play particularly well on later streets and I got away with losing the minimum. Nonetheless, with a decimated stack it doesn't help when you run A2 into AK bvb when 9bbs deep! Pretty much the story of the night, pp's not holding up, bb waking up with a hand.
Still, I'm happy with my decision to play on VC, I like the software and they have enough scheduled tournaments to keep me occupied.

On a different note, I have been messaging a 2p2er who is interested in discussing MTT strat and we have since linked up on Skype and MSN. I haven't been discussing enough hands and don't have many close mates who want to get as involved as I would. 2p2 is also starting to tilt me a little due to the American contingent. Seems they are pretty results orientated and breaking into the community is a rare thing.. As a result, they don't seem to give too much weight to my opinion at this stage, despite being a fairly regular poster. That just becomes annoying because I don't know if my line on a hand is correct and I haven't posted too many of my own hands until now, due to time restrictions. So, Nick and I (2p2er) intend to discuss a lot of hands, as he feels the same. He fundamentally plays $12 180s but has a similar roll to mine and again is equally placed, being a student in the Netherlands, so has the same constraints and probably the same goals!

With regard to Dan, I have yet to have our fortnightly review session due to other constraints and I felt a month's worth of volume should be more valuable, both in terms of a sample size and profit. So, next week I shall sit down with him and go over a few hands, look at the volume played, withdraw profit (I hope!) and then set our targets for the next phase. Fingers crossed he continues to put in the volume though, I'm sure the results will follow.

Next week I don't intend to put in an awful lot of volume myself however. My bro goes back to school on Monday so I'll probably chill with him up until that point. I think I will then head back down to London myself on Tuesday, as I don't imagine much will be happening up here due to mates having exams, plus I need to be back for Thursday night for footy. That will enable me to spend a lot of time in the library getting work out the way in preparation for the return of the Mrs. Would rather spend time with her then worry about deadlines!
Hopefully I'll manage to fit in some 180s but I'm definitely avoiding the late night finishes so I can hit the gym and then library in the mornings. My main aim next week, in terms of poker, is to spend a couple of hours a day on 2p2 and post some more of my own hands, not managed it over the break.

We'll see how it goes! GL
